Dermal Fillers
Offered at our Scranton office, 5 Morgan Highway, Suite 3, Scranton, PA 18508.
What to Expect
-
A consultation first
We discuss your concerns and review your options.
-
The appointment
Plan on about thirty to forty-five minutes. Most of the fillers we use include lidocaine, a numbing medicine, so treatment is more comfortable than most people expect.
-
Settling in
You see the volume right away. Some swelling for a few days is normal, with the true result at about two weeks. Book two to three weeks ahead of an event you care about.
-
A follow-up at two weeks
Your follow-up is booked before you leave. Once the swelling has settled, your provider checks the result and adds more only if you ask for it. If you are happy as you are, send us a text and skip it.
-
How long it lasts
Duration depends on the product and the area treated, from many months to over a year. Your provider will be specific about the plan they recommend for you.
How Dermal Filler Works
Dermal filler restores volume where the face has lost it and adds definition where you would like more, most often in the lips, the cheeks, and the lines that frame the mouth.
We offer Juvederm®, Restylane®, Revanesse®, Sculptra®, and Radiesse®. Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Revanesse® are hyaluronic acid fillers that add new volume. Sculptra® and Radiesse® are biostimulators: your own body produces the volume.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance your skin already makes. Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Revanesse® are smooth gels of it, placed beneath the skin to restore structure and support where time has thinned it, or to build definition. You see the result at the appointment. We treat in conservative steps; you can always add later.
Sculptra® and Radiesse® work differently. Sculptra® is poly-L-lactic acid; Radiesse® is calcium hydroxylapatite. Both are biostimulators: your own body produces the volume by rebuilding collagen. Radiesse® provides some structure the same day, Sculptra® builds over months, and neither can be dissolved the way hyaluronic acid can, which is one reason treatment starts conservatively, with a provider-led plan.
Filler and neurotoxin do different jobs. Filler restores volume; it does not stop the muscle movement that creases the skin. If what bothers you is a line of expression, neurotoxin may serve better, and your provider will tell you which is which at your consultation.

Good to Know
- A syringe of filler is a real line in a household budget, and we treat it that way: your provider recommends only what serves the plan you agreed on together.
- Filler does not stop expression lines; that is neurotoxin’s job.
- Swelling, and sometimes a bruise, can last a few days; plan two to three weeks ahead of events.
- Sculptra® and Radiesse® are biostimulators, not hyaluronic acid fillers; their results build over months.
Injectable Safety & Product Authenticity
Every injectable we use is a prescription medicine, obtained only through authorized U.S. sources.
Injections are performed only by board-certified physicians and physician assistants. You can meet the team, and you can verify any Pennsylvania provider’s license through the state’s Pennsylvania Licensing System. More in our guide to verifying an injectable provider.
Mild swelling, tenderness, or a small bruise at the injection site is normal for a few days. For questions about how you are healing, call or text the office at 570-507-1451. For symptoms that need prompt attention, such as changes in vision or trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing, seek medical care right away.
Dermal fillers: common questions
Will people be able to tell I had filler?
Done conservatively and placed well, filler reads as rested, not done. We work in small steps for exactly that reason: your two-week follow-up is there to add more if you ask for it, and most patients prefer that pace.
How long do dermal fillers last?
It varies by product and area, from many months to over a year. Lips typically turn over sooner than cheeks. Your provider will give you a specific expectation for the plan they recommend.
Does it hurt?
Less than most people expect. Most of the fillers we use include lidocaine, and your provider can add numbing on top. Some pressure and a pinch are normal; sharp pain is not.
What if I do not like the result?
Hyaluronic acid filler can be softened or dissolved with an enzyme. That is part of why we use it, and part of why starting conservatively is the house approach.
Are all fillers biostimulators?
No. Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Revanesse® are hyaluronic acid fillers: they add new volume, and you see the result at the appointment. Sculptra® and Radiesse® are biostimulators: your own body produces the volume as collagen rebuilds, so the results build over months.
Filler or neurotoxin: which do I need?
They answer different problems: filler for volume and structure, neurotoxin for lines of movement. The consultation exists to sort that out for your face, and sometimes the answer is one, not both.
