SkinPen® Microneedling
Offered at our Scranton office, 5 Morgan Highway, Suite 3, Scranton, PA 18508.
What to Expect
-
A consultation first
We discuss your concerns and review your options.
-
The session
Numbing cream goes on for about thirty minutes, and the treatment itself takes about thirty more. Most patients feel vibration and light pressure rather than pain.
-
A short, honest recovery
Your skin will look flushed, like a mild sunburn, for one to three days. Most patients are comfortable in public the next day and back to makeup on their provider’s go-ahead.
-
Results across the series
Texture improves over the weeks after each session as collagen rebuilds. Plans commonly run about three sessions, four to six weeks apart, and your provider will track progress with you.
How Microneedling Works
SkinPen® microneedling creates thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin, prompting it to rebuild with fresh collagen and elastin. Over a series of sessions, texture becomes smoother and firmer.
It is the treatment we most often discuss for acne scarring, fine lines, and pore size.
The micro-channels are shallow and heal quickly, but they are enough to switch the skin into repair mode. New collagen builds over the following weeks, which is why the results arrive gradually rather than overnight.
It is gradual by design. Most plans run about three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, and the improvement compounds across them.
Microneedling works on the skin itself. It does not add volume and does not relax lines of expression; where those are the goal, your provider will point you to the treatment that actually addresses them.
Good to Know
- Performed by trained providers with sterile, single-use cartridges; this is not the same tool as an at-home roller.
- Expect redness for one to three days; plan around photographs accordingly.
- It is a series, not a single fix, and your provider will say how many sessions your goal realistically takes.
- Microneedling does not replace filler or neurotoxin; it treats skin texture, not volume or movement.
Microneedling: common questions
Does microneedling hurt?
With numbing cream on for about thirty minutes first, most patients describe vibration and light pressure rather than pain, with some tender spots near bone.
How much downtime is there, really?
Flushed skin for one to three days, closer to one for most people. Plan treatment at least a week ahead of anything you will be photographed at, to be safe.
How many sessions will I need?
Commonly about three, four to six weeks apart, though it depends on your skin and your goal. Acne scarring usually asks for more patience than fine lines. Your provider will give you a number at the consultation, not after you have started.
How is this different from a roller I can buy online?
Depth, control, and sterility. SkinPen® reaches a clinically useful depth with sterile, single-use cartridges in trained hands; home rollers cannot do the same work, and used aggressively they can do harm.
