SkinPen® Microneedling with PRP

Offered at our Scranton office, 5 Morgan Highway, Suite 3, Scranton, PA 18508.

Step by step

What to Expect

  1. A consultation first

We discuss your concerns and review your options, including whether PRP belongs in your plan.

  2. The blood draw

A small sample, comparable to a routine lab test, taken at the start of your visit while the numbing cream goes on.

  3. The treatment

The SkinPen® pass takes about thirty minutes, with the PRP applied to the open micro-channels as your provider works and again at the end.

  4. Recovery and the series

Expect the same one to three days of flushed skin as plain microneedling, and the same series structure, commonly about three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart.

Straight answers

Good to Know

  • PRP comes from your own blood; nothing synthetic is applied.
  • The blood draw is comparable to a routine lab test.
  • Downtime matches plain microneedling: flushed skin for one to three days.
  • PRP is an addition, not a requirement; your provider will say honestly whether it is worth it for your skin and your goals.
The treatment

Why Pair PRP With Microneedling?

This treatment pairs SkinPen® microneedling with platelet-rich plasma, PRP, drawn from your own blood, concentrated on site, and applied to your skin while the micro-channels are open.

Platelets carry the growth factors your body uses to repair tissue. Your provider concentrates the plasma on site and applies it while the micro-channels are open.

The appointment adds one step to a standard microneedling session: a blood draw about the size of a routine lab test. The sample spins in a centrifuge while your numbing cream works, separating out the platelet-rich plasma, which your provider applies during and after the needling pass.

Because the plasma is your own, nothing synthetic is added to the treatment. Everything else about the session, the numbing, the redness afterward, the series structure, matches microneedling on its own.

Questions

Microneedling with PRP: common questions

Is the blood draw a big deal?

No more than routine lab work: one small sample at the start of your appointment, taken while the numbing cream does its work.

Is PRP worth adding to microneedling?

It depends on your skin and your goal, and that is a consultation conversation. If your provider does not think PRP will earn its addition for you, they will say so and recommend microneedling alone.

Does it change the downtime?

No. Plan for the same one to three days of flushed skin as microneedling without PRP.

How many sessions will I need?

The series structure matches plain microneedling, commonly about three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, tuned to your skin at the consultation.

Do you offer PRP for thinning hair?

Yes. PRP can also be injected into the scalp where hair is thinning. It is a separate treatment; see PRP for hair below.
